Manufacturer Warranty Repair

This means that your TV or appliance is still within the manufacturer’s warranty period and there is no repair cost to you. The warranty period is typically the first year of the life of the product. But some components of your appliance, such as a washer motor, carry a longer manufacturer warranty period. The warranty period begins on date of purchase if the product was purchased directly from a retailer or manufacturer.

Non-Warranty Repair

A non-warranty repair is when there is no manufacturer warranty or extended warranty whatsoever. This is also known as “COD” repair. Depending on the problem or the product, the manufacturer may give you a “One-time warranty extension” for parts and labor or only cover the parts an you are responsible for the labor. This depends on the manufacturer and the age of the product.

Extended Warranty Repair

An extended warranty provides additional coverage beyond the manufacturer’s warranty. You can purchase an extended warranty directly from the manufacturer, from the retailer who sold you the product, or from a home warranty service company.
Most extended warranties covers the same components as the manufacturer warranty, however; some may not cover everything, so you must understand your warranty’s limitations.
